Planchettes

Thin round or polyhedral pieces 1–4 mm in size made of polymer (paper) (fig. 1, a, fig. 2). They are incorporated in the paper during the manufacturing process or pressed to its surface layer. They are distributed randomly or as a strip in a certain place of the banknote. Planchettes can be coloured and luminescent under UV light (fig. 1, b). Moreover, planchettes with high reflection power (“blinking”, “anti-copy”) prevent image formation by copiers (fig. 2).
