Electronic document reading

Electronic document reading

The built-in RFID chip reading module enables the recognition and verification of electronic identity documents while performing cross-checks of the data within the document.

All-in-one scanning solution

All-in-one scanning solution

The high-resolution scanner features an integrated computer, a full HD multi-touch display, and pre-installed operating software, making it a complete solution.

Software Features

This black box, operating at the push of a button, features not only a super camera and various light sources, but also powerful software designed to support key user scenarios—filling databases and remotely examining identity documents.

Automated Authenticity Verification

Advanced authenticity checks—such as textual data validation, format verification, and precise optical analysis under different light sources—streamline the verification process. Automation speeds up ID authentication while flagging inconsistencies for manual review. Additional cross-checking of luminescent text against a machine-readable zone (MRZ), barcode, and visual zone data, as well as document pattern verification under UV and IR light, helps authenticate as many security elements as possible to ensure the ID is genuine.

Integration with the Information Reference Systems

Experts benefit from direct access to a reference system, allowing them to compare examined documents with database samples. With the Regula Information Reference Systems, the 88XX makes it easy to enrich the database with high-quality images of local documents and even create custom collections, such as counterfeit document archives.

*Regula IRS comes separately. Also, Regula Document Builder is required for adding your samples in the IRS

Remote access for expert analysis

The software’s standout feature is its built-in remote access capability. With a copy of the included software installed on their computer and a stable Internet connection, experts can fully operate the device and analyze images as if they were right next to it.

Cropping an image fragment

No need to send large files—simply log in remotely, capture the required images, zoom in, crop fragments, and save them for reports or further analysis. It is also possible to add image fragments to an information reference system or a document database.

Automation of routine tasks

The software allows you to create predefined scanning scenarios, such as capturing images under specific light sources and settings based on a document's security features. This is especially useful for frequently checked passports from certain countries, enabling consistent scans without reconfiguring settings each time. These scenarios can also be easily shared with experts using the same software, streamlining workflows and saving time.

Flexible report generation

The result of any examination is an expert opinion, reflecting their conclusions regarding the authenticity of the document. Each report includes images or image fragments that support the expert's conclusions. The software can automatically generate basic reports in popular formats—RTF, DOC, PDF, Excel, HTML, and more—, significantly simplifying experts' work and saving them time.

OVI and hologram visualization

Modern documents commonly incorporate security features like OVI and holograms. With oblique lighting, the device fully visualizes these dynamic features, capturing sequential images that can be saved as a GIF, OVI or a summarized image.

Automated file organization for storing images

When a document is scanned, a folder is automatically created to store all related images and elements. Files and folders can be renamed or reorganized as needed.

One-button scanning for efficiency

The device features a single button—Scan. With one press, it automatically captures a set of required images. By default, images are taken under all available light sources, providing up to 21 images. However, you can pre-select specific ones to speed up the process.

Face Matching

The software enables comparison between the passport's visual photo, the RFID chip photo, and a live photo captured in real time using a connected camera.

Document size restoration

When a 1:1 scale image of a document is needed, a dedicated software button instantly adjusts the enlarged image to match the document's actual size.

Effortless image fragment analysis

Experts can examine image fragments under different light sources without resizing or repositioning each time. The software retains the snapshot’s parameters, ensuring consistency across lighting conditions and significantly speeding up the examination process.
