Distortion-Free Multi-Spectral Document Examination Device

Regula 1031 is a compact professional device designed for reliable document examination in operational and forensic environments. The device combines distortion-free optics, accurate color reproduction, and comprehensive multi-spectral illumination to support consistent and trustworthy examination results in everyday expert work.

Distinctive Features

Distortion-Free

Regula 1031 features an achromatic optical system with anti-reflection coating, designed to minimize chromatic aberrations and parasitic reflections.
This optical design ensures:

  • distortion-free image geometry across the entire field of view;
  • stable optical performance at high magnification levels;
  • accurate visual representation of fine document details.

Up to 24× Optical Magnification

Depending on the modification, Regula 1031 offers up to 24× optical magnification, enabling detailed examination of:

  • microprinting and nano printing;

  • printing techniques;

  • fine security elements.

Accurate Color and High-Contrast Imaging

The optical system of Regula 1031 is complemented by white light LEDs with a Color Rendering Index (CRI) above 80, providing natural and accurate color perception.

High-contrast imaging enables:

  • correct assessment of inks, substrates, and background patterns;

  • detection of subtle printing differences;

  • reliable analysis of color-dependent security features.

Multi-Spectral Illumination

Regula 1031 is equipped with a comprehensive set of illumination sources supporting advanced document examination tasks. This multi-spectral configuration supports examination of modern identity documents, including polycarbonate cards and documents with complex security features.

Incident, Oblique, Coaxial, OVD White

Incident, Oblique, Coaxial, OVD White

Regula 1031 supports incident, oblique and coaxial white light, as well as dedicated white light for OVD visualization, enabling reliable examination of surface relief, printing techniques, and optically variable elements.

UV-A, UV-B, UV-C

UV-A, UV-B, UV-C

Ultraviolet illumination is available at 254, 313, 365, and 400 nm. This combination expands an expert’s capabilities in examining security features of documents and banknotes, as well as in detecting potential signs of alteration under different UV excitation conditions.

Infrared

Infrared

Infrared illumination at 850 nm supports examination of infrared-reactive inks and security features.

Anti-Stokes Excitation

Anti-Stokes Excitation

High-intensity 980 nm illumination is primarily used to stimulate Anti-Stokes security features, which emit visible light under specific excitation conditions.

UV and White Torch

UV and White Torch

The front torch provides white light and ultraviolet illumination at 365 nm for quick localized inspection during document examination.

Designed for Everyday Expert Work

Regula 1031 is designed to support consistent, reliable document examination in real operational conditions. By combining distortion-free optics, accurate color reproduction, multi-spectral illumination, and expert-driven usability, the device helps professionals focus on document analysis rather than device operation.

RFID Check

Regula 1031 includes a built-in RFID scanning module for examination of electronic documents.The module automatically detects the presence of an RFID chip, identifies the RFID tag type, and displays RFID-related information on the OLED display.

Diopter Adjustment Mode

Regula 1031 includes a diopter adjustment mode, allowing users to fine-tune the image according to individual vision characteristics. This feature enhances comfort and maintains image clarity for different operators.

OLED Status Display

Regula 1031 is equipped with an integrated OLED display that provides clear system status information, including current operating mode, battery charge level, RFID chip presence and type. The high-contrast OLED display ensures excellent readability in various lighting conditions.

Camera Mode

Camera Mode enables image capture through the eyepiece of the device using a mobile phone camera. This allows quick documentation of examined document features without additional equipment. Unlike conventional compact examination devices, Camera Mode supports preconfigured illumination settings. The duration of illumination for all light sources can be set once in the system menu. After that, activating Camera Mode with a single button immediately prepares the device for image capture under consistent lighting conditions.

Ergonomics and Power Supply

Regula 1031 is powered by a built-in Li-Pol battery with charging via a USB Type-C port, allowing convenient charging similar to a standard smartphone. The device housing is made of shockproof plastic, ensuring durability in operational environments.

For Left- and Right-Handed Users

Screen orientation can be configured to suit both left-handed and right-handed users. In addition, the display is now physically oriented toward the user, improving ergonomics and reducing operator fatigue during extended examinations.

Redesigned Control Concept

The control system of Regula 1031 has been redesigned to make operation more intuitive and efficient. The device is ready for work immediately after power-on, with all essential functions available from a single menu level.

Extended Settings

A new settings menu provides advanced customization options, including: illumination timeout adjustment, illumination timeout in camera mode, OVD speed adjustment, default white light intensity setting, automatic power-off timeout, screen orientation settings etc.

Measuring Scale

Measuring Scale

An optional integrated measuring scale supports linear measurements, angular measurements, and radial measurements. This allows experts to estimate and compare sizes of document security features and typographical elements.

Accessories

Optional accessories include a protective carrying case with belt fastening and a wrist strap for mobile inspections.

A Family of Compact Document Examination Devices

Regula 1031 is part of a broader family of compact document examination devices, offering multiple models and modifications with different optical parameters, illumination configurations, and magnification levels.
